How many KW in your standard rack?

Our rack ready solutions are designed to support high density computing, standard racks support up to 6kW, however higher power allocations can be accommodated through our non-standard design process.​

Speak with your Account Manager and they will work with you, and NEXTDC’s presales team to customise an environment that suits your specific needs. Alternatively, if you have a power allocation already and it exceeds 6KW, your Account Manager will proactively work with you on a power upgrade path.

What if my data centre footprint and power needs to change?

Our data centre solutions are engineered to scale. If your power needs change, where you are consistently using above and beyond 100% of your contracted power, our team proactively work with you to help re-level you to a power allocation that suits your current requirements.

When it comes to your physical footprint needs, every space is customised. We work closely with you to plan for your current and future-state requirements to ensure your short- and medium-term requirements are factored into your data centre space. We also offer first right of refusal for surrounding racks to your contracted footprint, should you wish to reserve the right to take up additional physical space at any stage (how cool is that?). We go above and beyond to help you capacity plan and build an environment that suits your specific needs, all of which is seamlessly interconnected via dark fibre and NEXTDC’s Data Centre Interconnect infrastructure.

What costs need to be considered with colocation?

Colocation, or Data Centre-as-a-Service takes the complexity out of managing in-house IT infrastructure. Colocation strips out all of the cost associated with running a data centre, and unburdens the customer from owning it. Just some of the major costs colocation helps to immediately alleviate includes data centre technician costs, generators, electricity, security, private carrier links, insurance, UPS systems, audits and costs associated with compliance adherence, fuel and many more.

When colocation is consumed as-a-Service the cost is amortised and operationalised, opposed to capital spend. Based on the power consumed and space taken, colocation is simplified down to one line item that is right-sized to a customer’s needs, with the flexibility wrapped around it to grow in line with business needs

Does NEXTDC sell direct to customers?

First and foremost, NEXTDC is a partner-preferred organisation. More than 80% of our business is transacted via channel partners.

We pride ourselves on operating ethically and fairly at all times, keeping our eye on the customer and their needs, providing the necessary support and guidance necessary and ensuring we are working collaboratively and strategically with our partners who share an incumbency in the account. Our partners play a highly valuable and integral role for customers, therefore it’s always our preference that wherever possible, deals are procured via our partners.

Like all rules, there are always exceptions. And there will be rare instances where a customer may decide to establish and manage their data centre environment directly. We have an obligation to respect the customer’s decision, however we always explore whether there is an opportunity for a deal to go via a partner.

What are the partner program levels and partner benefits associated?

NEXTDC’s partner program is built to minimise complexity or any overheads required from our partners. For simplicity, our Partner Program comprises of two levels, Premier and Service Provider status. The only difference between the levels is Opportunity Registration, which is available to Premier Partners and the discount off of SRP.

Irrespective of which level you are, all partners are offered pre-sales, technical and sales support. Our goal is to help you grow your colocation line of business and bolster your service offerings. Do you give partners leads?

Yes, all the time. We acquire hundreds of leads every quarter. Roughly 15% of them are given to our partners where we know there is close alignment to the customer’s needs. We allocate most leads that are one rack or less. Or where there is interest in a fully managed service, or colocation bundled with alternative cloud based services, we seek the support of our partners to manage the lead.
